Evaluations

In a speech/language evaluation, a therapist can determine whether your child needs assistance in a variety of areas. This evaluation may involve:

  • Play-based assessment

  • Parent interview

  • Observations

  • Standardized language Assessment tools

  • Articulation screener

If your child is bilingual, it can also determine whether your child has a language difference versus a delay based on evaluating the child in both languages and/or taking both languages into consideration.

Our Approach to Therapy

At Babble with Brianna, the focus is on therapy in a natural setting such as in home and in the community. The key factors in therapeutic carryover include:

  • Using play to make therapy fun

  • Parent coaching and carryover throughout the week

  • Incorporating verbal routines on a daily basis

our specialties

Speech Sound Production

At Babble with Brianna, we target working on age-appropriate sounds so that your child can be understood and heard in order to express what they want and need and to reduce their (and your) frustration:

  • Target words to practice those difficult sounds

  • Strategies to help your children during those moments of frustration and/or communication breakdowns

  • Teaching how and where those sounds are produced

Early Intervention

At Babble with Brianna, we work with Service Coordinators and other providers (OT, PT, DT) in Early Intervention (EI) to make an individualized plan for your child from the ages of 0-3. These services take place in the home or in the community. Here are the steps to take with EI:

  • Contact your local CFC or call (800) 843-6154

  • Wait for a Service Coordinator to schedule an evaluation

  • Hold a meeting to determine if your child is eligible for services, how often those services take place, and what goals there are for therapy

Expressive/Receptive Language

At Babble with Brianna, we work on using words to express what your child wants and needs, and increasing their understanding of language so that they can:

  • Use more words to communicate

  • Follow routine and novel directions and identify objects

  • Make requests, ask for help, and use language in a variety of settings with family and peers

Parent coaching

At Babble with Brianna, we work to help your child succeed by providing caregiver coaching so that therapy can take place every single day. It also provides parent-child bonding because they parent is the one learning the therapeutic strategies that will ultimately help their child succeed. At Babble with Brianna, we will provide:

  • Handouts with strategies

  • Ideas for verbal routines to try out throughout the week based on your child’s interests

  • Feedback about which strategies work best for your child’s individual needs
